About Sandra

As one of four children of a hardworking immigrant household, Sandra grew up in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, part the 53rd Assembly District.  She has continuously resided in the District.


Sandra is a mother of a millennial, a young lady who dedicates her time working for a nonprofit in health care. She is also a proud grandmother to an inquisitive six year old.


As part of her community, Sandra has spent countless hours volunteering her time and talents to many causes that include education, the environment, and labor. She currently serves on the board of the Youth Policy Institute’s charter schools. She contributed on the founding board for the the Crown Jewel Club, an organization that teaches young women about citizenry and etiquette.  She has helped organize community events and has served on numerous community based organizations. Sandra also served on the CA State Bar's Committee of Bar Examiners.

Sandra started her working career in the Los Angeles garment district.  This is where she became acutely aware of the need for workers and management to work together to enhance workplace protections and true living wages.  Sandra also worked as a labor organizer. She is currently a member of IBEW Local 11/ Engineers and Architects Association.

Currently Sandra is a public sector employee, a proud mother and grandmother and resides in Pico Union.  Day in and day out Sandra shares in the issues impacting the people of 53rd Assembly District and will fight hard to ensure that all possible resources of the state of California will find their way to the District.​
